Please note the supply fee requested. This $5 fee will cover the cost of items used throughout the fall semester such as drawing paper, ebony pencils, tortillions, kneaded erasers, fixatives, charcoal, drawing inks, tempera and watercolor paints, brushes, etc. Students will be provided a secure place to store supplies in the art room. It is important that the student marks all supplies with his/her name and make sure that they are place in the assigned area at the end of each class.

The art student will be expected to follow the rules of Northshore High School and St. Tammany Parish School Board. It is extremely important that all art students respect themselves, each other, the teacher, and all materials and equipment involved in the study of art this semester.

Evaluation will be based on the exploration of a variety of drawing and design fundamentals. The first nine weeks portfolio will consist of two-dimensional works focusing on linear perspective and value study. The second nine weeks will focus primarily on color theory and its application in original art works. A variety of art media will be used and a basic appreciation for art history will be integrated into work assigned. Points will vary for each assignment. Most assigned work will be worth a total of 100 points (50 points based on instructional criteria for the particular assignment and 50 points based on the overall visual composition created). An average of all work assigned will constitute 80% of the nine weeks grade. The nine weeks exam is worth 20% of the nine weeks grade.
